Located in the South Missourian-Democrat in Alton, Oregon co., MO on Thursday July 8th 1915. Newspaper article reads
as follows: July 11th, 1915 will be remembered by Charles E. Holland and family and many
of their friends as one that does not happen every year. It was the occasion of Mrs. Charles Hollands birthday, and
of course was kept from her. Early in the week their neighbors arranged to spend the day at the Holland
farm 3 miles north of Alton and while Mrs Holland was away ministering to a sick neighbor, as she is known by all her
neighbors never to miss a chance to do a neighborly act or deed of kindness, the neighbors to the number of 60 or 70 including
all adjoining and adjacent : Rev. T.J. Braswell and family, F.C. Hardgrove and family, S.I. Bridgeforth, S.B. Key, H.B. King,
Press Evans, F. R. Ganaway, A.T. Whitten, A.L. Sifford, J.P.Millsap, and as each had well filled baskets there
was a large variety and an abundance of eatables. The Holland's came here from Nebraska several
years ago and own one of the nicest and well kept farms in the county. Have fine fruit and a well stocked farm.
They are Christian people of the highest type and enjoy the confidence of all who know them and their neighbors took advantage
of this opportunity to show them that they were appreciated. And while we with these years and years of unbounded happiness
and enjoyable birthdays we can only wish that each and every one present will continue to show the same love and respect to
all with whom they come in contact and the world would soon grow better. May peace and prosperity be with them all.
